Her work is amazing and intelligent. I loved Tibor Kalman’s work; what a brilliant mind. He is missed, and so it is a great joy to see Maira’s pieces filled with so much creativity, wit, and life.

I have loved Ms. Kalman’s work for so long. Her post 9/11 New Yorker cover is my all time favorite (all these years later, if I ever want to make my husband smile, all I have to do is say “Hiphopabad”). I so relate to the way she sees the world is all its beauty/sadness/loneliness/surprising moments of grace, and I always look forward to her blog posts on the NYT. What a treat to read more about her and her work.

Wow – we subscribe to The New Yorker but somehow I never seem to get around to reading it. Your article will make me pay more attention, as I love the images from the blog. This is a woman I would love to meet.

I love “What Pete Ate”. We have checked it out of the library one million times. How wonderful that Maira gets to draw and think about things all day for a living. Jealous!
